“Fuel for Life” – When Love Speaks

Have you ever done what you thought was the right thing at the time, only to have it come back and bite you later?  Sometimes what “feels” right is not always healthy in the long run.  We acknowledge this, but it’s difficult to apply in our own lives.  In this video message, Jeremy shares how the cross of Jesus bridged the gap between us and God so we can have real fuel for life, not empty desires that leave us more thirsty.

Matthew 27:45-46 At noon, darkness fell across the whole land until three o’clock. At about three o’clock, Jesus called out with a loud voice, “Eli, Eli, lema sabachthani?” which means “My God, my God, why have you abandoned me?”
John 19:28-29 Jesus knew that his mission was now finished, and to fulfill Scripture he said, “I am thirsty.” A jar of sour wine was sitting there, so they soaked a sponge in it, put it on a hyssop branch, and held it up to his lips.
Proverbs 27:20 Just as Death and Destruction are never satisfied, so human desire is never satisfied.
Galatians 5:16-17 So I say, let the Holy Spirit guide your lives. Then you won’t be doing what your sinful nature craves. The sinful nature wants to do evil, which is just the opposite of what the Spirit wants. And the Spirit gives us desires that are the opposite of what the sinful nature desires. These two forces are constantly fighting each other, so you are not free to carry out your good intentions.
Galatians 6:7-8 Don’t be misled—you cannot mock the justice of God. You will always harvest what you plant. Those who live only to satisfy their own sinful nature will harvest decay and death from that sinful nature. But those who live to please the Spirit will harvest everlasting life from the Spirit.
2 Corinthians 5:21 For God made Christ, who never sinned, to be the offering for our sin, so that we could be made right with God through Christ.
NLT, Tyndale
