What does it take for you to be happy? Even though we all have an amount or destination in mind that we think will be enough, there’s always a desire for more. In this message, discover how reaching up for a meaningful life from God is key to us having joy through every season of life.
Joy remains despite our PAST.
1 Timothy 1:16 “But God had mercy on me so that Christ Jesus could use me as a prime example of his great patience with even the worst sinners. Then others will realize that they, too, can believe in him and receive eternal life.”
Joy remains when we don’t get what we WANT.
Acts 16:6 “Next Paul and Silas traveled through the area of Phrygia and Galatia, because the Holy Spirit had prevented them from preaching the word in the province of Asia at that time.”
Joy remains when things go WRONG.
Acts 16:24-25 “So the jailer put them into the inner dungeon and clamped their feet in the stocks. Around midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the other prisoners were listening.”
Joy comes from CONFIDENCE in Jesus
Philippians 1:3-6 “Every time I think of you, I give thanks to my God. Whenever I pray, I make my requests for all of you with joy, for you have been my partners in spreading the Good News about Christ from the time you first heard it until now. And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns.”
We have confidence because real love GROWS.
Philippians 1:9-10 “I pray that your love will overflow more and more, and that you will keep on growing in knowledge and understanding. For I want you to understand what really matters, so that you may live pure and blameless lives until the day of Christ’s return.”
We have confidence because character CHANGES.
Philippians 1:11 “May you always be filled with the fruit of your salvation—the righteous character produced in your life by Jesus Christ*—for this will bring much glory and praise to God.”
