Why does your church have membership?

– Every Person Matters – to God, so we want to make sure that we reflect that in how we care for the people who want to be a part of our church.  Through an active church membership, leadership is able to make sure that every person is cared for appropriately.  If we didn’t count money, the IRS would shut us down.  If we don’t keep track of who is a part of our church, we deserve to be shut down. Matthew 28:18-201 Peter 5:1-4
– Make the Relationship Official. – This gives our church family and leadership a clear picture of where they are and where they are going in their process of following Jesus’ way.  The Bible calls people to love one another, continue meeting together, be united in belief and purpose, have accountability and more.  Church membership helps the church family and the leadership to accomplish these goals. Matthew 18:15-19Hebrews 10:23-25
– Be Effective in Sending out the church family. – Church membership is the foundation for people serving in our church in a variety ways.  Many positions do not require membership, and we encourage everyone to be involved at some level.  Still, when people join our church family as a member, it gives the church an opportunity to help that individual understanding their gifting, receiving training, and find an outlet to use their gifts, skills, and talents. John 20:21Ephesians 4:11-13
– Biblical Model and Pattern – Aside from all these practical benefits, church membership is referenced in a variety of ways in the New Testament of the Bible.  It is presented as a model that should be practiced in all churches. 1 Corinthians 5:122 Corinthians 2:5-8,
